Artist's Description
One of a series of paintings, featuring views from the memorial benches around Lake Padden, one of the premier parks of Bellingham, Washington. The memorial benches are more than a resting place on the path around the lake. The benches celebrate the life of a person, but in the painting they are a symbol for death. The setting offers hope for life continuing.

Thank you very much! The painting is 30" by 40" which is large for a pastel. A photograph of the painting tends to reduce the strokes of the pastel, making it appear less like a painting. No photograph can capture the experience of standing before the original. The painting is one in a series of the lake, as viewed from the benches that surround it. The Jansen Art Center featured the series in a solo exhibit.

Great painting! Looks like a photo yet so much better than a photo! Outstanding design and technique!

Fantastic. You took a relatively simple scene and made it a beautiful work of art.
